JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary function of this position is to assist the Credit Union in achieving its mission to share in the financial success of our members by providing services with fairness and integrity. To achieve this goal, this position must deliver outstanding service to both internal and external members as defined by our Service Promises. A key component of this service is to identify needs and offer solutions at every opportunity. Additionally, this position provides customer service and support to existing and potential members, as well as processing and tracking business account/loan data according to regulations, specializing in loans, training and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews the approved credit memo and loan conditions as outlined in the term sheets and commitment letters.  Assists with the creation of a loan documentation checklist (if applicable) and notifies the borrowers of due diligence items required prior to the loan closing with follow-up communication as needed.

  • Coordinates with the commercial loan officers, credit analyst, branch managers, title company (if applicable), and third-party vendors to obtain the pre-closing due diligence and address questions or concerns that arise.

  • Assists with ordering title searches, title commitments and title insurance policies; reviews HUD-1 / closing statements as prepared by title agent or attorney ensuring all closing costs are included and paid according to the approved credit memo and commitment letter.

  • Assists the commercial loan officer in the preparation of standard loan documentation for execution by borrower.

  • When needed, conducts in-house or branch closings with borrowers for non-real estate transactions or loans not closed by title agents. 

  • Records and perfects UCC liens, title liens and real estate collateral; completes post-closing reviews on commercial loans.

  • Responsible for the creation and updating of electronic loan documentation files as well as assembling the original documentation binders.

  • Supports the loan booking and servicing functions on First South Financial’s existing accounting and servicing platforms.

  • Conducts compliance review on new and existing commercial deposit accounts.

  • Supports commercial loan officer’s portfolio and members including but not limited to opening new accounts, customer follow-up, research, loan advances, payments issues, updating accounts in the core processor system, wires and any other servicing needs.

  • Deliver high quality service.  Provides member service to existing and potential members by answering questions, returning phone calls and/or email for business accounts and loans.

  • Perform other duties as required.

SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-4 years of commercial lending or mortgage lending closing and documentation experience.

  • Familiarity with commercial or residential mortgage due diligence processing.

  • Understanding of collateral perfection including mortgages, titled vehicles or equipment, and UCC liens.

  • Experience interacting with borrowers, title attorneys, and other third parties involved in closing, prep, and execution of mortgages.

  • Understanding of commercial and residential appraisals and environmental assessments including FIRREA, USPAP, CERCLA, and the All Appropriate Inquiries Rule.

  • Familiarity with NCUA rules and regulations as concerns commercial lending.

  • Employee will need to be well versed in First South Financial Products as well as the Commercial Lending Policies and Procedures

  • High School degree or equivalent and experience working in the financial services industry

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Publisher)

  • Strong customer service skills, ability to work in a team environment, conscientiousness related to work, openness to learning, and strong verbal & written communication skills.
